State of Emergency

Town of Enfield, North Carolina
STATE OF EMERGENCY DECLARATION
Effective 8:00 a.m. on January 23, 2026, until further
notice, I, W. Mondale Robinson, Mayor of Enfield, North
Carolina, hereby declare a State of Emergency for the
Town of Enfield due to the imminent and severe winter
weather event expected to impact our community.
Meteorologists are forecasting what is being described as
the winter storm of the decade, with precipitation
expected to include snow, sleet, and freezing rain. These
conditions pose a significant threat to public safety, road
conditions, utilities, and emergency response capabilities.
To protect the health and safety of our residents, the Town
of Enfield will implement a no-car restriction (curfew)
beginning at 5:29 p.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2026
(sunset) and continuing until 7:20 a.m. on Sunday,
January 25, 2026 (sunrise).
Exceptions to this restriction are granted to individuals
traveling to and from work.
Residents should be advised that Halifax County has
informed the Town that no county services will be
deployed on Saturday night for any reason. This means
emergency response and road assistance will be extremely
limited during this period. Travel should be avoided
unless absolutely necessary.
The Town of Enfield has begun coordinating with the
Emergency Management Agency and other response
partners to prepare for potential impacts and to deploy
resources should their services be required.
I urge all residents to take this storm seriously, remain
indoors during hazardous conditions, secure necessary
supplies, and check on elderly neighbors and those who
may need assistance. Please continue to monitor official
Town communications for updates as conditions evolve.
This declaration is issued in the interest of public safety
and will remain in effect until rescinded.
