Enfield Performing Arts Center
Begins: 9/21/2019 - 6:00 PM
Ends: 9/21/2019 - 10:00 PM
On September 21 Enfield Performing Arts Center http://www.epacnc.org/ debuts new works with EPAC Contemporary Art Series. This ambitious art exhibition series will feature new works of art by living artists, many of whom will be exhibiting in eastern North Carolina for the first time. Opening on September, 21 2019 ¨Paintings and Sculpture¨ will feature the work of four premiere artists from the south - Myra Wirtz, Benjamin Reid, Thony Aiuppy, and Charles Philip Brooks. Myra Wirtz' (https://www.myrawirtz.com/about-me) accomplished encaustic paintings have been exhibited annually in solo exhibitions with Ariodante Gallery in New Orleans. Her eclectic and layered paintings have both boldness and subtle forms. The original kinetic sculptures of Benjamin Reid (https://www.benjaminsreid.com/about-me ) defy easy categorization. They are moving, odd, masterful, and strangely beautiful. Thony Aiuppy (https://thonyaiuppy.com/) is a multi-talented painter and mixed-media artist, writer, and art educator. His workman-like approach to fine art making revels in the merger of symbolism, collage, and abstraction. Workhorse painter and curator, Charles Philip Brooks (www.charlesphilipbrooks.com) is widely known for his evocative Tonalist paintings. He also has a reputation as an attentive teacher of traditional landscape painting in the apprenticeship tradition.
¨Paintings and Sculpture¨ will begin with an Opening Reception of September 21, 2019 from 6 to 10 pm as the first exhibition of the EPAC Contemporary Art Series. The opening located at 310 W. Franklin Street Enfield, NC 27823, which is also the working studio of Myra Williamson Wirtz. The exhibition will be on view from September 21 to October 5, 2019. The public is warmly invited.
